Ai-Kon, Illness, G.I Joe, and I Can Haz Job?

Thu Aug 6, 2009, 7:40 PM
  • Mood: Eager
  • Listening to: Johnny Your An Angel
  • Reading: Fanfictions
  • Watching: G.I Joe (80's)
  • Playing: Okami
  • Eating: Nothing?
  • Drinking: Diet Pepsi
So I was supposed to be away for only three days - in fact, I was only away for four. I had a helluva time at Ai-Kon with my bestest best friend, ~Niebeldor and it was awesome. We saw lots of costumes and all kinds of neat stuff! >> Still, I must say that I think her costume was the best out of the bunch. . .I'll add a link just as soon as she posts some pictures :3

There was even an anti-Twilight rally! It was most amusing! XD Group of people marched around the building saying anti-Twilight things and the greatest part about it was that the guy who started and was leading the riot rally was dressed up like Hunk from Resident Evil, complete with black uniform and a black gas mask that he wore on and off. The chant was : "Ai-Kon may be ending, but Twilight sucks forever!" It was hilarious!

After following them for one lap around the building however, I noticed that my headache (which had been humming unpleasantly in my head for the last hour or so) spiked and ~Niebeldor asked me if I wanted to head back in. I agreed, and just after we took a few steps into the building (heading for the elevator) someone burst in behind us and said (quite sourly) : "LOSERS!" and "Get a life!"

Me and ~Niebeldor snerked, cause like that's anything to say when you're obviously walking into an anime convention, but then we quickly realized that she must have been upset by the display outside and was fuming. That made us snicker again, but interestingly enough, that's when it happened.

I was struck down so suddenly by a mysterious illness that it was almost like voodoo. Or poison or something else fast acting. Because of the coincidental timing, me and ~Niebeldor dubbed it Twitard Disease. Truth be told, it is much more like Johnnyitius now than anything else (named after the MGS character Johnny, who had terrible stomache problems, often), but regardless that is the reason I have been away for so long. I have almost hit week 2 of Johnnyitus, though now at least I can function. Gawd. That really sucked for a while.

On a different note, last weekend ~Niebeldor came down to my house and we had fun (despite my continuing illness) and early the first morning of her stay, we saw the most awesome-est thing ever. We both had been watching the commercials for the G.I Joe movie, and while we didn't know too much about G.I Joe to really be too excited, it looked good (I had never even known previously that there was such a cartoon/show, meanwhile ~Niebeldor had seen several episodes of a newer version of the show). We had both decided that we wanted to see the movie cause the action looked good (and I liked the look of Snake Eyes) but then something came on that solidified our decision.

The 80's version of the cartoon.

Needless to say, Commander Cobra is now my favorite cartoon character EVER.

It was a whole marathon (we only managed to catch two episodes) but after Commander Cobra, we couldn't help but want to watch more. Honestly, there was one part where this one guy was captured (can't remember for the life of me who it was. Shipwreck, maybe?) looked at Commander Cobra and said (since the Cobras just decimated the G.I Joe Playset base) :

"Then why don't you phone them and brag?"

And Commander Cobra, without a word of a lie, said:

"That's a great idea!" And he did promptly phone them up, claiming to have a wrong number, cause he was sure that he was phoning a junkyard.

If you've never seen the show, DO SO NOW. It is awesome! Especially the longer episodes! We bought the first season on DvD and it was totally worth the buy!

I hope that they make Cobra Commander at least slightly funny in the movie, and from the clips I've seen it looks like they could hint at his hilarity and his penchant for crazy schemes. And I would love that. Regardless, I will see the movie and I'm sure I'll love it.

To top off this ridiculously long journal, I now also have a job. Yay for me! I must admit, that I was rather nervous and all, considering that not only was it my first time phoning and requesting for information about a job, but also my first interview ever. It was interesting though, as I simply phoned them, asked about their requirements and they 'booked' me for an interview an hour later. All said and done they said that they had one guy in front of me, and they would phone me later on in the evening if I got the job - I did, and it was awesome.

Though this now means that I work from 8-5 five to six times a week doing essentially assembly line work for the next month, but the pay ($9.78/h) isn't bad. I could always use the money. :3 Tomorrow is my first day, wish me luck!

It's been forever since I've talked to you! Sorry about not replying to all of your comments. I've been really busy getting ready for a convention that I'm selling my art at. Anyway, I hope you get back on soon. I miss talking to you!

I don't care what you're doing so much as the idiotic way you're doing it.
